Graft: One Hair Transplant Only: Prioritize Hairline or Crown Density?

hi. 31, nw4. only planning one surgery, thinking around 3500-4000 grafts. front is back and the crown is thin enough that it shows when i part it or my hair is a bit shorter.

i keep going back and forth on how to use the grafts. one side of me wants the hairline and just behind it to look solid and i can live with the crown not being perfect. the other side thinks if the crown still looks empty after healing i’ll end up unhappy every time i see the top of my head.

if this is the only procedure, better to go heavier on the front and accept a lighter crown, or try to give both areas something even if the density ends up average? don’t want to feel like i placed them wrong a couple years from now.

if you’re only doing one surgery with 3500-4000 grafts I’d put most of them on the hairline and front. That area frames your face and is what you see every day in the mirror and in photos. Spreading them evenly usually ends up looking average in both places and a lot of guys regret that more than a lighter crown. Crown takes a ton of grafts to look dense and it’s slower to fill in. With your budget you can still improve the crown a bit and blend it, but don’t expect full coverage if the front is the priority.
