Recovery: How long do you have to sleep on your back with a special pillow after FUE and when is it actually safe to sleep normally again?

Surgery is coming up and I’m trying to figure out the practical side of recovery. Most places say you have to sleep elevated on your back for a while so you don’t mess with the grafts. How long is that usually recommended for and is a neck pillow or travel pillow enough or do you need one of those special foam ones? Also wondering at what point you can go back to sleeping on your side without risking anything.

Most clinics say 7 to 10 days on your back elevated. the first week is the critical one because the grafts are still settling. after that the risk drops a lot but a lot of them still prefer you keep the elevated thing a bit longer just to be safe.

yeah the first week is the main window. after day 7 or so the grafts are usually locked in enough that rolling onto your side is less of an issue. still better to avoid pressing the recipient area hard until the scabs are fully gone.
