Oral minoxidil 2.5mg for 4 months after years of foam. Front is better, crown still sucks.

Used the foam for like 2 years. Stopped and started it again a couple times. Never really stuck with it because it made my hair look greasy. Started 2.5mg oral about 4 months ago. Shedding got worse for the first 6-7 weeks then calmed down. Hairline has some new growth that wasn’t there before. Crown looks basically the same as when I started.

No weird side effects that I’ve noticed. Blood pressure is fine. Not sure if I should just stay at this dose or go up. Anyone who’s been on the oral version for a while, did the crown ever catch up or did it stay mostly the same?

crown is hit or miss on oral too. front usually responds first. if youre not getting sides just give it another 2-3 months before you change anything. greasy foam is why a lot of people quit the topical.

Oral minoxidil produces more uniform follicle exposure than topical application. Frontal improvement with minimal crown change at four months is a common pattern. Dose escalation to 5 mg is sometimes considered after six months if the response remains limited and systemic tolerance is confirmed. Concurrent use of topical minoxidil is unnecessary once oral therapy is established.
